Congratulations to those of you who will be attending UC Berkeley in Spring 2023! Looking for off-campus housing can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! While housing options are endless, you’ll want to narrow your search. Here’s what to look for:

  1. Affordable housing close to campus
  2. By-the-bed leases
  3. Roommate matching
  4. Furnished apartments
  5. Affordable amenities

One of Berkeley’s newest buildings, The Laureate, is one you have to check out. The location is perfect and you get a lot for the price.

The Laureate is located at 2556 Telegraph Avenue and is only a 6-minute walk from UC Berkeley! This property is managed by Square One Management, which has a 4-star review on Yelp. The Laureate has 3 bedroom/2.5 bathroom apartments and 4 bedroom/3 bathroom apartments. They offer “by-the-bed” leases and provide complimentary roommate matching. Just tell them what kind of roommate you’d prefer living with and their leasing agents take care of the rest. This eliminates the need of having to find roommates. Their deposit is also very reasonable, at only $1250.

We covered leases and roommate matching, but what about pricing? The rent is $1700 a month, and this includes WIFI, electricity, gas, and free bi-weekly cleaning of your unit. Did I mention the free snack bar? Water and garbage are only $30 to no more than $50 a month. It’s very important to look out for hidden fees, and the Laureate doesn’t have any.

This building is truly one of a kind in Berkeley. From free WIFI, snack bar, bi-weekly cleaning of your apartment, rooftop gym, Sky Lounge, and more you’ll feel like you’re taken care of so you can focus on what’s important – studying and acing those tests! So, what do you need to bring with you to The Laureate? Nothing. No. Seriously. Practically nothing. There is custom designer furniture in every apartment that includes storage beds, nightstands, desks, chairs, a couch, a dining room table, a coffee table, and a stackable washer and dryer. They even provide a 32-inch smart TV that’s mounted on your living room wall for playing video games or watching your favorite TV shows!
